Book Blogger Hop – July 30th to 2nd Aug 2010

I’ve just been taking part in the blog hop for Book Bloggers hosted by

The theme question for this blog hop is – “Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?”

I have to say that for me it has got to be Wallace Stegner. I’m a little ashamed that it has taken me so long to discover his work but I read Crossing to Safety earlier this year after my sister recommended it to me. I enjoyed every word of it, the characters are so well penned that it was hardly put down until it was (all too soon!) finished.

Highly recommended!

If you found me here via the blog hop, please leave a comment so I can check out your own answers!

    Hi Des,

It feels like I’m talking to a long lost twin here – came across your site by accident and was intensely amused to find a co-named similarly interested in literature and books.

I am a fan of e-books and have published several already ( – have a peek if you have time or are interested in literary treatment of modern science and philosophy.

Nice to have talked to you,

      Hi Des,
slightly spooky! I noticed “my” domain name had been taken :-)

Not had a chance to check out your web site in detail as yet but will definitely take a closer look.

Looks like I will now have to adopt a pen name if that one novel I’m supposed to have inside me ever bursts forth!

      All the best,

I found your website via the Friday Book Blog Hop. I didn’t get signed up in time as I was cavorting around Seattle with my hubby rather than playing on the computer. Boo! Anyway, I was delighted to find a Wallace Stegner fan. I adored Crossing to Safety when I read it several years ago and I’ve been trying to talk my book group into doing it ever since that first read. I also enjoyed his book, The Angle of Repose, which I think might be a bit on the long side for many, but I enjoyed it. He was an exceptional writer, a writer’s writer some described him as.

      Hi Anne,
I ‘discovered’ Crossing to Safety after my sister’s book group read it and I’ve got Angle of Repose on my wanted list (so great to hear that you enjoyed it). I really found Crossing to Safety to be something special, so I’m looking forward to delving into more of Stegner’s books.

Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
